Thursday was the Republicans' turn to crow at the Illinois State Fair, as candidates for governor strutted their stuff for the party faithful.
State Senator Kirk Dillard had former Governor Jim Edgar in tow, while businessman Bruce Rauner rode up on his motorcycle. State Senator Bill Brady skewered both of them, blasting Rauner for his connections to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Dillard for supporting Barack Obama in 2008.
Dillard dismissed Brady's potshot and said he has experience that money can't buy, which was seen as a slap at billionaire Rauner.
State Treasurer Dan Rutherford, meanwhile, pointed out that he's the only candidate to win statewide.
