The FutureGen 2.0 project is expected to put more than 300 people to work in Morgan County.
The number was revealed in a new economic impact analysis conducted by the U of I's Institute of Government and Public Affairs in Urbana.
FutureGen spokesman Lawrence Pacheco said the project will be a major economic booster in the area, paying out about $318 million in wages over a 20-year span. Adding so many jobs in Morgan County can breathe new life into the area, which is struggling with an 8.6% unemployment rate.
FutureGen was originally sited in Coles County near Mattoon, but delays and concerns over the original project's viability caused a relocation to Morgan County.
