State Senator Kyle McCarter has had success in getting $6 million in state transportation funding transferred to projects in the region.
The bulk of the funding will go toward a US 50 bypass at Lebanon. In addition to that $4 million project, funds were earmarked for projects closer to our area.
$100,000 was targeted for improvements on Douglas Avenue in Effingham, along with $120,000 for pre-construction activities on Sunset Drive in Vandalia and $50,000 for improvements to Second Street in Altamont.
Funds were also allocated for work in Greenville, Okawville, Centralia and Carlyle.
