Effingham County Farm Bureau and Effingham County Chamber of Commerce are teaming up on a Business After Hours of a different sort.
The event is being billed as "Agriculture and Commerce--Partnering for Progress" and will take place on Tuesday evening, August 13 from 4:30-7pm. Those interested are to meet at the St. Aloysius Church Pavilion in Bishop Creek, along East 1000th Avenue west of Dieterich. One option for Effingham residents is to take Illinois 33 east to the Teutopolis-Elliotstown Road, head south on the road until you see the church steeple to the east and turn east onto 1000th Avenue.
Those gathered at the church pavilion will board buses to visit two area farm operations. One is the farm of Dale and Lora Repking where a robotic dairy operation can be viewed. The other is at the Kenny and Judy Brummer farm where a monoslope cattle barn is in operation.
A meal count is needed, so those interested in attending are asked to phone the Farm Bureau office at 342-2103.
The gathering will feature new innovations in farming and a meal of pork tenderloin and ribeyes.
