Washington Savings Bank has announced the results of its annual Give a Heart fundraiser, which raised $1,000 to support local heart health initiatives.

Generosity by customers, employees and community members, along with a matching donation by the bank, generated $500 for The Prairie Heart Institute at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, and $500 for the Sarah Bush Lincoln Heart Center.

Throughout February, Washington Savings Bank invited customers to purchase paper hearts for $1 each, with every dollar going directly toward heart health programs.

WSB Senior Vice President Elaine Buehnerkemper said, "We are incredibly grateful for the support from our customers and employees. Heart health is a cause that touches so many lives, and this fundraiser is a great example of how small donations can add up to make a big difference."
