A Louisville man has been sentenced to prison for violating his probation for drugs.

48-year-old Joshua Bass was placed on two years' probation for unlawful possession of methamphetamine in December of 2023. Bass violated his probation for, among other reasons, using methamphetamine on more than one occasion.

Following a contested sentencing hearing, Judge Joel Powless sentenced Bass to five years in prison. Once out of prison, he will complete a six-month period of mandatory supervised release.

Clay County State's Attorney Phillip Givens said, "My office has been consistent in holding people accountable. This is another example of an individual not taking probation seriously."

The initial investigation was conducted by the Illinois State Police and Clay County Sheriff's Office, and the probation violations were conducted by the Clay County Probation Department.
