Three vehicles were involved in a collision on US Route 45 in Union Township.

The crash happened just after 3pm Saturday at 1425th Street. Units involved were driven by a 16-year-old girl from Dieterich, 31-year-old Erin Shehorn of Flora, and 65-year-old Angela Burkett of Flora.

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office reported that car driven by the 16-year-old was stopped at the intersection facing east. The car then turned northbound into the path of the Shehorn vehicle. In the resulting collision, Shehorn lost control of her vehicle and traveled into the southbound lane of the highway, colliding with the side of the Burkett vehicle that was headed southbound.

Shehorn was injured and was taken by Rural Med EMS to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

The 16-year-old was cited for an expired registration and for failure to yield or stop at an intersection.
