Shelby County Board Fills Final Vacancy

Shelby County board members filled the last vacancy on the Board at this month's meeting.
James Mitchell of Moweaqua was named to the vacant board position in District #1, filling a vacancy due to a resignation. Mitchell was sworn in at the meeting.
The Board approved a rezoning of land owned Jeremy Chaney from Agricultural to General Business, and approved a preliminary plat for Lithia Estates based on approval by the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Board members approved four projects submitted by Highway Engineer Michael Tappendorf including improvements to an across highway drainage structure in Prairie Township in Shelby County for $15,000. The project is a joint venture between Shelby and Effingham Counties. It was also agreed to contract with Consociate Health to complete federally mandated drug cost reporting for $1,750, and to surplus six bi-fold doors at the airport.
Board members approved Sikich to finish the annual financial report for Fiscal Year 2022 after Belford Brown and Associates said they couldn't the report. The Board also approved a contract with the Fraternal Order of Police retroactive to December 1, 2024 and concluding November 30, 2027. The County still needs to complete a contract with AFSCME.
The Shelby Board also approved the appointment of Nathan Elliott as a Moweaqua Fire District trustee.
