One Killed in Crash Involving a Train and an ATV East of Teutopolis

One person has been killed in a crash involving an ATV and a westbound freight train a mile and a half east of Teutopolis.

81-year-old Thomas Miller of rural Teutopolis was operating the ATV and was killed in the collision.  Effingham County Coroner Duane Guffey pronounced Miller dead at the scene at 11:53am.

The crash occurred between 11 and 11:30am at a field road crossing along the south side of US 40. 

Effingham County Sheriff's Department handled the crash with assistance from the Illinois State Police, Teutopolis Police Department, Teutopolis Fire Protection District, CSX Railroad police, Effingham City-County Ambulance and the Effingham County Coroner's Office.  The investigation continues by the sheriff's office and the coroner's office.
