Signup for the 2013-2014 school year begins today in the Effingham Unit 40 school district today.
All Unit 40 students entering Early Childhood Special Education through eighth grade will register today or tomorrow. All Unit 40 registration is taking place in the Effingham High School Cafetorium.
Signup for those in ECSE through 8th grade today will be for those with last names beginning with A through K and will take place between noon and 6pm. Signup on Friday will be for those with last names beginning with L through Z and will take place between noon and 6pm.
Effingham High School students will register next Wednesday and Thursday.
All students entering Early Childhood Special Education for the first time, kindergarten, sixth and ninth grade and those transferring into Unit 40 from outside the district will need physical exams before registration. Appointment cards will NOT be accepted for physical exams. Ninth graders may NOT use athletic physical exams to fulfill ninth grade physical examination requirements.
Immunizations must be up to date.
Students in Grades 6-12 should be present at registration to have their student ID and yearbook pictures taken; students must follow the school handbook dress code for the picture. Those fifth grade and younger will have their photos taken at their buildings at a later date.
Parents of those in Early Childhood Special Education or Kindergarten should take along a copy of their child's birth certificate for their child's school records. Children entering Kindergarten for the coming school year must be five years old on or before September 1. Parents of incoming ECSE students received a letter in June inviting their children to attend.
