Write-in Period Ends for Spring Election Candidates

The deadline for write-in candidates to file for the Spring election was today.

In the election for Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education, just enough candidates are seeking office to fill the seats. 

Those running are incumbents Chad Thompson, Desha Wear and Erica Boone and newcomer Brandon Duncan. 

Duncan is the only candidate who will appear on the ballot, as he filed by the official election deadline. Thompson, Wear and Boone are running as write-ins.

Thompson this time is running to fill a two-year, unexpired term, while Wear and Boone are running for full four-year terms. Duncan is also a candidate for a four-year term.

Board President Jill Wendling, Jane Willenborg and Andrew Altman are in mid-term.

Current board member Steve Bone is not seeking re-election.
