Construction projects were discussed at this week's meeting of the Teutopolis Board of Education.
The Board reviewed potential improvement options with the district architect, who presented possible scenarios for the junior high school and grade school.
The Board also reviewed drawings and specs for the reskin/reroof of the metal building that serves as the high school cafeteria, constructed in 1972. Improvement to the entrances at both the high school and junior high school buildings are also anticipated as a part of this possible Summer 2025 project. Advertisement and solicitation of bids for the cafeteria and entrance work is expected later this spring.
The Board approved a Resolution of Support for Vision 2030, and reviewed the end of year calendar including possible dates for high school graduation and junior high promotion.
Board members formulated a list of possible action steps that could be taken to improve student achievement and better accomplish Board and district goals, and discussed the village's Oak Street reconstruction project and implications for Teutopolis Grade School as the street runs along the east side of the school.
Teutopolis Superintendent Matt Sturgeon shared that an After School Program has been announced and parents notified via e-mails regarding program information and registration details. The Board conducted its annual evaluation of Sturgeon; accepted the irrevocable resignations from Morgan Mette as high school assistant track coach and from Allie Deters as high school head girls tennis coach. The Board hired Cory Wermert as fulltime bus driver, Megan Moses as junior high volunteer volunteer coach, Keith Dennis as high school Scholar Bowl volunteer, Jake Meyer as high school track volunteer, and Wittni Deters as high school Pomerettes volunteer.
