Neoga school board members have awarded work to finish surfacing their track.
Midwest Track Builders was awarded the bid for $199,872. Neoga Superintendent Kevin Haarman said that earlier work awarded allowed installation of concrete, fencing and sidewalks. The work awarded at this month's meeting will provide the latex topping and lining for the eight-lane track. Haarman expects the work to be completed by the start of the next school year. The work will also feature pole vault and high jump areas to make for a complete track and field facility.
Haarman said the project makes for a walking area for the public when meets and practices aren't going on. He said the area could become a potential location for residential development.
Neoga board members also awarded electric upgrade work. Haarman said the project will cost $315,921 and will be a complete upgrade of the electrical system at the junior/senior high school, now over 40 years old.
