School board candidates have until the end of the month to file as a candidate for the Spring election.
In Effingham Unit 40, Brandon Duncan of Summit Township was the only person to file during the original filing period in November. However, there is still time to file as a write-in candidate. That deadline is January 31.
Two incumbent board members...Desha Wear and Chad Thompson...have now filed as write-in candidates for another term. Wear is running for a full four-year term, while Thompson is seeking to fill an unexpired two-year term. The other incumbents are Steve Bone and Erica Boone. Boone was appointed to the Board to fill a vacancy due to a resignation.
In Altamont Unit 10, Dale Laue, Alonzo Shoaf and Robert Roedl have filed for another term.
In Beecher City Unit 20, Jordan Shields and Clifton Miller have filed for new terms.
In Dieterich Unit 30, five people have filed...Nick Niemerg, Devin Aherin, Francis H. Niemerg, Jon Engelbart, and Charity Bohnoff.
In Teutopolis Unit 50, Erin Ordner, Courtney Tegeler, Kari R. Thompson, and Jessy J. Draves have filed for election.
Those wishing to file can find a form on the Illinois State Board of Elections website, and can also pick up a form from the Effingham County Clerk's office. Those wishing to file need to do so at the County Clerk's office.
