Much of Monday's Effingham County Board Legislative Committee meeting dealt with solar and wind farms, as well as what provisions should be made to insure their safe operation.

There was less enthusiasm for wind farms than for solar. The decision was to table any action on a solar and wind ordinance for this month. The consensus is that the issue needs further study.

County resident Kathy Schroeder said her neighbors have been contacted that they need to sign up now. Various prices per acre and various lengths of time to earmark property are being quoted.

There was also discussion regarding enforcement of whatever ordinance is developed.
