Two young people escaped injury when they fell into Salt Creek on Tuesday afternoon.

Effingham City Police Chief Jason McFarland said a dog escaped out the door of a house near the creek. While chasing the dog, one child fell in shallow water in the creek, while the other child fell off a short creek bank into ice.

The chief said there were no injuries and that both children were home shortly after the incident began.

The episode began in mid-afternoon in an area off East Gordon Avenue.
