Illinois lawmakers are back in the Statehouse this week for a brief lame duck session despite heavy snows in the capital city.

Capitol News Illinois reports they’re trying to pass a handful of bills left over from the last legislative session before the new General Assembly is sworn in on Wednesday.

One bill being considered would make it easier for people in Illinois to legally change their name.

Another would transfer a 15-hundred-acre state park in DeKalb County to the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

Lawmakers are also considering legislation to impose strict new regulations on the manufacture and sale of products containing hemp-derived T-H-C.

Any pending legislation that does not pass during the lame duck session will have to be reintroduced in the new session that starts Wednesday in order to be considered.
