Criminal charges against a public office holder in Shelby County have been dismissed.

Teresa Boehm had been charged with violating the Public Officers Prohibition Act. Former Shelby County State's Attorney Robert Hanlon had charged Boehm with the charge for serving as both a Shelby County board member and as a member of the Rose Township Cemetery Board. Boehm resigned from the cemetery board but remained on the county board. Hanlon later filed the charges against Boehm.

Once Hanlon resigned as State's Attorney, Effingham County State's Attorney Aaron Jones was appointed special prosecutor in the Shelby County case.

Jones sought to have the charges against Boehm dismissed, and the motion was granted by Judge Bryan Kibler.

Jones said he did not feel he could prove criminal intent by Boehm.

Meanwhile, Boehm was re-elected to another term on the Shelby County Board in November.
