EJ Water Cooperative is among the recipients of funds to expand access to a clean and reliable electric grid, and provide safe drinking water.
USDA Illinois State Director Pam Monetti said EJ Water received a $4.8 million loan to make updates and additions to their systems to help their surrounding communities. This project will construct 18.4 miles of water main, a new elevated storage tank, pump upgrades at the Delbert Mundt water treatment plant and complete water tower repainting.
The project will serve townships and towns in Shelby, Richland, Christian and Montgomerty counties, serving a population of 1,100. The work will alleviate IEPA health and sanitary hazards.
