A court appearance is set for Thursday for a Willow Hill man charged in a shooting incident in Jasper County.

22-year-old Jackson Leffler has been charged with a Class 1 felony count of aggravated discharge of a firearm. Jasper County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a 911 call at 8:23pm on December 18. The call was to a location about 1-1/2 miles east of the Illinois Routes 33/49 intersection on Route 33. Sheriff's deputies and Jasper County Ambulance Service personnel rendered aid to a male gunshot victim. The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken for treatment.

Leffler was apprehended by Jasper County deputies at the scene. He is still in custody, pending the Thursday court appearance.

The case is still under investigation by the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, the Jasper County State's Attorney's Office, and Illinois State Police Crime Scene investigators.
