Effingham County 911 board members Tuesday discussed any work needed to ensure the communication tower located outside the county jail is up to standard.

Local firm Civil Design can check the condition of the tower and will be contacted about researching its condition.

There was also discussion of StarCom fees for radios used by local fire departments and 911's obligation, if any, on making radios available. The matter will be revisited at the Board's January meeting.

The Board approved a quote on GIS migration and needed hardware. The equipment will be acquired at a cost not to exceed $86,000. Work is also underway to get quotes on new console furniture for the County dispatching point.
