Death Ruled as Accidental, Drug Related

Effingham County Coroner Leigh Hammer has ruled the May 13 death of an Effingham man as an accident, but drug-related.

Hammer ruled the death of 39-year-old Steven G. Arnold to be from opiate and alcohol intoxication.  She said toxicology studies performed by the Coroner's Office indicate that Arnold died of a heroin overdose while being legally intoxicated.

Hammer has ruled the manner of death an accident.
