Clay County board members voted Tuesday to accept a design for the county's bicentennial logo.
Clay County was created by the Illinois General Assembly on December 23, 1824. The County will celebrate the bicentennial on July 12, 2025.
The winning logo design was created by North Clay High School student Matthew McPeak.
Also Tuesday, the Clay board heard from Ryan Winchester from Invenergy about the Maple Flats solar farm, west of Louisville. Winchester told board members that they are looking at going 100% in mid-January. The utility has been sending power since November 1.
Tax dollars from Maple Flats will be received starting in the next taxing period of 2025-2026.
There was discussion about design of a new animal shelter, and an update on progress on the Louisville Medical Facility.
