The inquest into the Independence Day death of former Effingham resident Denise Robertson is set for August 21 in Macon County.
The 51-year-old Robertson was found wounded as was her husband 66-year-old Michael Robertson in their home in rural Moultrie County. Denise Robertson was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur where she was pronounced dead. Michael Robertson was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana in critical condition. He is also a former resident of Effingham.
An autopsy determined Denise Robertson's cause of death as a single gunshot wound to the head.
Macon County Coroner Michael Day Tuesday said an investigation into the incident continues and he won't have any additional information to release prior to the inquest. Day said authorities are still awaiting the final autopsy report, and said there are a "couple of other matters" State Police are completing ahead of the inquest.
Day said the cause and manner of Denise Robertson's death are still undetermined. He said the State Police investigator in the case would testify at the inquest and then the Coroner's Jury would rule as to the manner of death.
