Bethany Man Sentenced to Probation, Jail Time

Bethany resident Daniel Bennett was sentenced to jail time and probation in Effingham County Circuit Court on Tuesday.

The 39-year-old Bennett pleaded guilty to solicitation to meet a child, stemming from an incident that led to his arrest in January. A count of indecent solicitation of a child for the purpose of committing a sexual act with the child was dismissed, as was a charge of travelng to meet a minor.

Bennett was sentenced to 180 days in jail and was placed on two years' probation. He will also have to complete a period of public service work and was fined.
