A conservative organization is asking the U-S Supreme Court to review Illinois’ law on counting late-arriving mail-in ballots after Election Day.
Capitol News Illinois reports the group, Judicial Watch, wants the high court to review a case brought by Republican Illinois Congressman Mike Bost. Two lower courts have previously upheld the law.
The case challenges Illinois’ rule allowing election authorities to count mail-in ballots for 14 days after Election Day. The ballots must be postmarked by Election Day to be counted.
Bost argued his campaign suffered damages by conducting poll-watching operations even though the election had concluded and Bost was declared the winner.
