Jasper County Authorities Investigating a Shooting Death

An investigation is underway into a shooting death in Newton on Sunday afternoon.
Illinois State Police were called by Newton Police Department to investigate the shooting death at 2:30pm Sunday. The death occurred in the 300 block of North Walnut Street.
Jasper County Coroner Jason Meyer said Newton Police Department, Illinois State Police, and the Jasper County Coroner's Office are investigating the death.
