Teutopolis school board members hosted members of the 6th Grade Student Council at this week's meeting. Student Council is a new program at Teutopolis Grade School.

Student Council members shared some of their efforts at initiating fun activities such as the staff pumpkin decorating contest and a recent fundraiser with proceeds going to support a hurricane-impacted school in North Carolina.

Several staff members have joined Principal Hoehn in helping students learn more about leadership and service.

In regular business, the Teutopolis Board approved a high school overnight field trip to Edwardsville and a senior class field trip to Indianapolis. The Board also approved the tentative tax levy with a hearing to finalize the levy at the December meeting.

Board members discussed facility maintenance needs and potential financing options to accommodate a growing population and a goal of moderizing facilities. The discussion originated with 2022 district goals. Conversations about short-term and long-term facility needs will continue and will include internal and external listening sessions as options develop.

The Board authorized Superintendent Matt Sturgeon to execute contracts for bleacher replacement at the Wooden Shoe Field baseball diamond.

Sturgeon reported that an After-School Program is again being considered through a possible third party partner; the State Report Card was reviewed; it was shared that this is American Education Week; Sturgeon reported that he is assisting the village comprehensive plan committee; and reviewed April 1, 2025 school board election information.

The Board accepted the irrevocable resignation of Kendra Bierman as high school counsselor; approved Kelly Wells and Samantha Will as junior high Scholar Bowl co-sponsors; and approved Caleb Siemer as part-time fresh/soph boys basketball coach for the current season.
