Altamont Board Reviews State Test Scores

Altamont school board members this week heard from grade school principal Kris Biggs concerning state test scores.

Biggs said in 3rd grade through high school assessments, summative designation scores have increased year-over-year for the last four years. Those include Grades 3-8 ELA and Math, Grades 5, 8, and high school Math; and comparisons iwth state data and local districts. 

Also, Altamont Superintendent Casey Adam reported on the focus for the coming fiscal year, which will include 5th grade Science, high school Social Science, and high school Spanish.

The Board discussed the estimated tax levy for the coming fiscal year, with Superintendent Adam recommending a 10% increase from the previous year, with a vote on the levy at the December meeting.

Board members also accepted a resignation from Samantha Leturno as a grade school paraprofessional and approved a plan to post a vacancy for an additional teacher for 4th grade begin second semester to reduce class size.

The Board approved applying for a state maintenance grant, and authorized Adam to complete a request for food service bids.
