One Person Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash in Dieterich

Details have been released on a three-vehicle crash resulting in injuries at Dieterich.
The crash occurred at 9:30am last Friday on Illinois Route 33, just west of Norb Avenue on the west edge of Dieterich.
The Effingham County Sheriff's Office reported a vehicle driven by 16-year-old Alexi Miller of Montrose was eastbound, following a a vehicle driven by 38-year-old Bridget Welter of Effingham. Welter's vehicle was following a vehicle driven by 63-year-old Cheryl Winterrowd of Teutopolis.
A vehicle in front of the Winterrowd vehicle braked for a turning vehicle. The Winterrowd and Welter vehicles were at a complete stop. Deputies report Miller failed to stop and struck the Welter vehicle, which then struck the Winterrowd vehicle.
Miller was injured in the crash and was taken by Rural Med EMS to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.
Miller was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash. Welter was cited for operating a vehicle with no insurance.
