A Federal judge has denied a request by the owners of Village Square Mall to stop the sale of the mall on Monday morning. That should allow the sale to take place as scheduled, but talks continue on the issue.
Durga Properties requested that the sale by the City of Effingham be denied. A Sheriff's Sale is scheduled for 10am Monday. A motion filed in Federal court was denied Friday by Judge Steven McGlynn. McGlynn ruled that the Federal court has no jurisdiction in the case and the Circuit Court has status.
A separate hearing in Circuit Court on the matter Friday morning filed by Durga was denied by Judge Allan Lolie, who has been hearing recent court matters in the case. Judge Lolie denied Durga's request, so the sale as of now is still on for Monday morning.
