It's almost time to turn back the clock as Daylight Saving Time ends at 2am Sunday. Fire officials are encouraging the public to use the reminder to check their smoke detectors.

The old saying of "spring forward/fall back" has been used as a prompt to remember to change the batteries in those pieces of equipment for decades.

Smoke detectors should be located outside bedrooms and around sleeping areas.

As the clock turns back an hour this weekend, it's also time to make sure you have a fire escape plan that allows all family members to get out in two minutes if a fire occurs. Resources are available at the Illinois Fire Marshal's website.
