Youth Deer Hunting Totals Announced for 2024

Youth hunters in Illinois harvested a preliminary total of 4,057 deer during the youth deer hunting season earlier this month. That's about 500 fewer deer than were taken during the 2023 season.

There were 98 deer taken this year in Effingham County, down from 105 in 2023 and 99 in 2022.

As far as area counties, there were 73 deer taken in Clay County; 66 taken in Cumberland County; 118 taken in Fayette County; and 76 taken in Jasper County.

Youth hunters with an unfilled, valid your deer permit may still hunt with the permit during the upcoming first firearm deer season in November.
