Jasper Board Members Learn New Courthouse Preliminary Design Completed

Jasper County board members heard at this month's meeting that the preliminary design of a new county courthouse is completed. A meeting to review the design will be held soon.

The Board decided earlier that the new building would involve Court facilities alone, with other County offices to be housed at the County Office Building in Newton.

Board members learned that the construction of the West Liberty Road s complete. 

There was discussion of design of a county flag. Designs are accepted through November 15. The Flag Design Commission will then select up to five designs and host an online in-person public survey for the public to vote on their favorites or to keep the current flag. Four designs have been submitted.

The Board continue work on the budget for the new fiscal year. A final vote will take place in November. They also finalized appointment of Lori Guerrettaz as ambulance service manager. 

Board members heard that the county/city website domain name has been switched from cityofnewtonil.com to jaspercountyillinois.gov.
