The Effingham Zoning Board of Appeals granted two setback variances at their Tuesday meeting.

The Board approved a rear yard setback reduction for David and Ann Doedtman for their home at 1003 Oceola Street. The Doedtmans plan to cover the patio at the back of their residence.

The Board also approved a rear yard setback reduction for James and Macie Kirgan for their home at 115 West Edgewood Avenue. The Kirgans plan to build an addition onto the southwest corner of their residence.

The Zoning Board also discussed progress on a new Comprehensive Plan for Effingham. The City plans an entry in the Halloween Parade to promote the survey. The goal is that all city residents will participate. The City also plans to begin meeting with various focus groups in November.
