(TYLER ROE)
A Brownstown man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for home invasion. The charge stems from a shooting incident over the New Year's weekend in Fayette County.
37-year-old Tyler Roe pleaded guilty to the home invasion counts. Other counts of aggravated arson, residential burglary, and theft were dismissed along with other pending cases.
The incident occurred at a residence southwest of Brownstown. The homeowner, retired teacher Sandra Stine, arrived home and encountered Roe reportedly attempting to commit a burglary. Roe took a vehicle from the residence and fled the scene. Shots were fired at the scene, but Stine escaped injury.
Meanwhile, a fire had been set at Stine's home. Brownstown and St. Elmo firefighters were able to save a portion of the home.
Fayette County sheriff's deputies and Farina police were able to stop the stolen vehicle near the gas plant north of St. Elmo. A Farina police officer fired his weapon, wounding Roe who was taken for treatment, and then was later taken to Fayette County Jail.
