April Flood has resigned as a member of the Cumberland Board of Education.  The Board accepted Flood's resignation unanimously at Tuesday night's meeting.  The Board is responsible for appointing Flood's replacement.

Board members heard a presentation from the Cumberland High School cheerleaders who were requesting permission to take a field trip to Florida to participate in the Capital One Bowl festivities.  After discussion, board members approved the trip contingent on a presentation by the cheerleaders at the August board meeting.  The presentation will address travel plans and fundraising for the trip.

The Board agreed to reauthorize several extra-curricular coaching positions for the coming school year.  They include high school girls head basketball coach Chasity Dunaway, high school baseball head coach Troy Elwood, middle school assistant baseball coach and high school baseball assistant coach Jim Talley, and high school assistant volleyball coach Kennedy Gabel.

Cumberland High School Principal Todd Butler reported that registration for the coming school year is set for August 12 from 9am to 6pm and August 13 from noon to 6pm.
