Altamont City Council members heard Monday from city residents concerned about the taste of the city water supply.

There are concerns that the water tastes like "dirty water". Similar situations have occurred with the city supply in recent years. The water is safe, though; City officials have checked with the EPA, the Illinois Rural Water Association and the city's engineers and the water is safe to drink and to use.

The Council approved an ordinance regulating development in flood plain areas, and approved the purchase of four body cameras from Axon Enterprise for use the city police department at a cost of $19,551.20. Use of body cameras is required by January 25.

Council members purchased a truck from Muncy's Auto Credit for use by the sewer department for $16,950; purchased an easement to gain access to a water line from A&H Implement; and increased reimbursement for meals when on City business to $15 for lunch and to $25 for supper meals.
