(SGT. BRADLEY SCHWARM)

The organization known as The Flagman's Mission Continues is seeking assistance from Farina and Brownstown and neighboring communities to honor the memory and family of US Army Sergeant Bradley Clinton Schwarm. Sgt. Schwarm died October 2 while stationed in Vilseck, Germany.

The mission of Jeff Hastings, President of "The Flagman's Mission Continues" is to get American flags in place along the route of Sergeant Schwarm's return. The sergeant's funeral will take place at 11am Tuesday, October 15 at First Christian Church of Brownstown.

Volunteers are asked to meet at the church at 516 West Cumberland Road in Brownstown. Flag setup will begin at 3pm Sunday and flag takedown will conclude at 3pm Tuesday.

Hastings said up to 600 three-by-five-foot flags on 10-foot poles will be flown. Two to three hours of time will be needed depending on the number of volunteers. At least four clean and empty pickup trucks (no trailers) to take the flags from the flag van to the setup locations would be appreciated. Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves, wear confortable walking shoes and take your own beverage to hydrate. Anyone able to walk and carry five pounds can help. Just as many volunteers are needed to take the flags down as to put them up.

You can phone Jeff Hastings at 618-409-0323 between now and when they arrive on location.

In addition to honoring Sgt. Schwarm, the memory of Lance Corporal Connor Austin Robertson of the US Marine Corps from Shelbyville and Herrick will be honored, as well. The project to honor Corporal Robertson began today (Thursday) and will conclude on Sunday.
