Jasper School Board Honors Track Team

Jasper County school board members Monday recognized Coach Todd Short and members of the Newton Eagles boys track squad for the team's second place finish at the boys state track meet in Charleston.
The Board awarded the district's property, casualty and liability insurance renewals for just over $209,000, and approved the final contract for the purchase of a lot at 209 Maxwell Street in Newton for $99,000.
Board members recognized three retirements; Susan Ikemire as executive secretary, Sharon Ghast as a special education aide, and Sandra Zumbahlen as a school bus driver, each effective as of December 31, 2012. Also recognized were the resignations of Brad Harris as 7th grade boys basketball coach and 6th grade basketball coach in order to take over as girls varsity basketball coach, and Stefani Beverlin as assistant girls basketball coach and assistant volleyball coach at the high school. The Board approved Danielle Hundley as an elementary teacher and William Sanguinetti as a technlogy support specialist.
