An ombudsman is a person who looks out for the best interests of others.

Lisa Light does her work as an ombudsman on behalf of those receiving long-term care.

Lisa was the guest speaker at the Effingham Noon Rotary meeting on September 25. She works on behalf of the Illinois Department on Aging and several other state and national agencies, but said her first responsibility is to the residents and families of the various care facilities in the area. She visits the facilities and engages the residents on matters they feel are important.

Noon Rotarian Tom Henderson served as Rotary weekly program chairman.

The Rotary student of the week was Bryce Hackman, son of Bruce and Tiffany Hackman and a senior at Effingham High School. Bryce is currently involved in football and E-sports. His plans are to move out of his parents' house, find an apartment with one of his buddies, and work in the shirt printing industry and eventually open his own business.
