Effingham County 911 Board members received good reports at this month's meeting on the new countywide communications tower system.

Darin Deters of Global Technical Systems reported all sites are operable and he reported excellent results. Deters made note of a few audio-related issues that are being worked on, and said there was an electrical issue that the tower owner is addressing.

Board members voted to have GTSi remove inoperable pieces of equipment located on the County Sheriff's Office tower site at a cost of $2,750.

911 System Administrator Tina Daniels reported that the State 911 Advisory Board discussed at their meeting this month a possible increase in the state 911 surcharge. The Board also voted to order four Verizon SIM cards for $144 per month. Two cards will be used for IFERN radio redundancy and two will be used by Daniels and by city telecommunicator supervisor Billie Bales to use for emergency call outs and for daily use with iPads.

Board members also voted increase IT Supervisor Jason Repking salary to $15,000 annually plus 5%. Other employees will also receive the 5% increase, with all of the increases taking effective Decmber 1.

It was also decided to reinvest $526,772.24 with Dieterich Bank in a CD for 12 months at 4.15% interest.
