Local Man Injured When Bike Strikes Car in Altamont

A local man was taken for treatment after two vehicles collided in Altamont on Saturday afternoon.

Effingham County Sheriff's Office reported that an electric bike operated by 39-year-old Jeremy Wiseman of Effingham was approaching Madison Avenue and 2nd Street just after 2pm. Deputies say Wiseman failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection, striking a car driven by 34-year-old Steffanie Gordon of Altamont. Wiseman was ejected from the bike and over the Gordon vehicle.

Wiseman was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. 

Wiseman was cited for DUI.
