The Altamont Board of Education Monday heard from the Altamont Sports Boosters.

The group's first public meeting will be Wednesday at the Altamont VFW at 7pm. This year, the boosters have pledged just over $15,000 towards sports teams and pledged $20,000 towards the city's park project this year alone. Fundraisers will be announced at Wednesday's meeting.

The Board approved the fiscal year budget and heard from their auditor Bo Thomas of Glass and Shuffett that the district's total profile score was 3.9 of a possible four and has a designation of Recognition status.

The district's curriculum committee and Altamont Superintendent Casey Adam discussed priorities for the new fiscal year for high school Social Studies, Spanish, 5th grade Science, and 1st grade Writing. There was also discussion regarding Foreign Language requirements that begin 27-28.

In personnel moves, the Altamont board accepted resignations from Johanna Hooks as girls track coach and volunteer cross country coach, from Gretchen Alwardt as JV volleyball coach, and from Lindsey Durkin and Destiny Wimberly as grade school paraprofessionals. The Board employed Lilly Russell as JV Scholar Bowl coach, Shelby Sasse as JV volleyball coach, and Twila Johnston-Lee as substitute custodian, and approved Gretchen Alwardt as volunteer coach for volleyball.

The Board approved FFA trips to the National Convention and to the North American International Livestock Expo; approved a joint agreement with OKAW for vocational ed instruction; approved leaves for two employees; and awarded the fuel bid to The Equity.
