Fatal Crash Sunday Morning in Coles County

An area man was killed in a crash in Coles County early Sunday morning.

The man killed was 31-year-old Joshua Lawhorn of Vandalia. 

Illinois State Police report a pickup truck driven by Lawhorn was northbound on US Route 45 approaching Coles County Road 450 North. Police say that, for unknown reasons, the truck ran off the right side of the highway, through a ditch, then struck an embankment and overturned.

Coles County Coroner Ed Schniers said Lawhorn was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Lawhorn was the only person in the vehicle. The crash happened at approximately 4:50am Sunday.
