EIU Board of Trustees Approves Budget

Eastern Illinois University’s regular September Board of Trustees meeting took place Thursday afternoon in the Martin Luther King, Jr. University Union.

Outcomes of the meeting included a report on the Central Management Services (CMS) Springfield Internship Experience, a competitive internship program for undergraduates that prepares students for careers in public service in State government; approval to open the bidding process for replacement of the Facilities Planning Management South Building and Fieldhouse roofs; final approval of the FY25 budget and a preliminary look at FY26 budget projections; and the sale of EIU’s former East Hall, located at 2103 12 th Street in Charleston, to the Eta Mu House Corporation of Sigma Chi fraternity.

EIU’s Fall 2024 enrollment numbers also were shared with the board.

In addition, three personnel contracts were approved for incoming head coaches (women’s softball, men’s and women’s golf and men’s and women’s swimming).

Chair of the Eastern Illinois University Board of Trustees Christopher Hicks also signed a certification form acknowledging the board’s participatory responsibility in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC)—EIU and other member schools submit this routine form to the OVC Commissioner’s Office in Brentwood, Tennessee annually.
