Two Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash Friday Afternoon

Both drivers were injured when two vehicles collided on US Route 40 in Jackson Township.

The crash happened at 1:49pm Friday. Effingham County Sheriff's Office reported that a pickup truck driven by 82-year-old Ronald Voelker of Altamont crossed the center line as he crested a hill and collided with an oncoming vehicle driven by 35-year-old Jeannie Sowers of Altamont. Both units ended up off the highway into the ditch.

Both Voelker and Sowers were taken by Rural Med EMS to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Voelker was cited for improper lane usage.
