Effingham Park Board commissioners Wednesday heard about upgrades being recommended at the Richard Workman Sports and Wellness Complex.

The upgrades are being recommended by Trophy Fitness, the new operator at the complex as of September 17.

In addition to installing new equipment, some equipment will be removed. Park District Director Jeff Althoff said installation of a turf floor upstairs is being considered. Althoff thinks up to $80,000 in upgrades and installation of equipment is possible.

A report on membership at the Workman Complex shows 2,311 members.

Park commissioners also heard that the playground equipment at Evergreen Hollow Park has been removed. District crews are readying replacement equipment. Althoff estimates the equipment being replaced could have been 30 years old.
