Clay County State’s Attorney Phillip M. Givens has announced that Rhyver Cosner, 26 years of age, of Flora was sentenced to time in the Illinois Department of Corrections on Wednesday in Clay County Circuit Court. Cosner was charged with Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine, a Class 2 Felony, on April 2.
The charges alleged that Cosner knowingly delivered less than 5 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine on June 26, 2023. Cosner pled guilty to the charges on April 29, 2024, and received a sentence of 4 years and 6 months in the Illinois Department of Corrections on August 21, 2024. He will have a 1-year period of Mandatory Supervised Release. The investigation was conducted by the Illinois State Police Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force.
Givens said, “Methamphetamine continues to be a problem in our community, but we continue to work together to get rid of the individuals who choose to deliver it in Clay County.”
