Effingham County 911 board members Tuesday heard that work continues on a countywide network of communications antennas. The system is designed to improve communications among the fire companies that serve the county.

Members heard that programming for the fire companies should begin in the next week. The plan is also to leave the Effingham frequency up during the transition. Members said that would provide redundancy for all departments.

All sites are in place and are being tested.
